Some interesting highlights from this week's press:
- The Daily Telegraph features the news that Biblica, the world's biggest publisher of bibles is to release a newly updated version of its New International Version of the bible, released in 2005. The NIV was initially critisiced that attempts to make the translation politically correct may have distorted the book's original message. You can read the full article here.
- Bible translations into a handful of the 830 living languages and dialects spoken on Papua New Guinea continue amidst tribal violence. Full article here.
- A British-based academic has discovered a fragment of the world's oldest bible (the Codex Sinaiticus) hidden in the binding of a newer 18th Century book. Nikolas Sarris spotted a previously unseen section of the Codex Sinaiticus, which dates from about AD350, as he was trawling through photographs of manuscripts in the library of St Catherine's Monastery in Egypt.
