SUGGESTIONS FOR CELEBRATING 400 YEARS OF THE KING JAMES BIBLE/AUTHORISED VERSION

In Churches

1     Use the KJV/AV at:

  • Evensong, thoughout the year;
  • one service a month;
  • a special service.

 2   If your church has a choir:

  • use anthems/verse anthems with texts from the KJV during services for the year and make it known that the text is from the KJV;
  • a concert of choral works which use texts from the KJV;
  • a performance of some/all of the Messiah.

3    The Royal School of Church Music will be publishing a special service put together to mark the celebration - further details will be put on our website, and that of the RSCM, in due course;

4     Bible Society will be including the celebration in their material for Bible Sunday;

5     A Bible-reading marathon, or just the New Testament.
       Further information will be available on this website in due course.

In Schools:

A number of projects are being worked on including:

  1. Peterborough Diocese - The Shoe Box Bible:

The recreation of the bible in sections prepared as three dimensional interpretations in standard shoe boxes. - Schools, parishes or individuals would be asked to prepare an interpretation of text taken from bible. This could be a literal presentation of a scene in a story or an interpretation of ideas rendered using a range of materials.

Details of more projects will be available on this website as soon as possible.

To read it is to feel simultaneously at home, a citizen of the world, and a traveller through eternity.
