King James Bible Composition Awards

The King James Version of the Bible (KJV), also known as the Authorised Version, was published in 1611. Its 400th anniversary is being marked with a series of events arranged by the 2011 Trust, among which is this competition for young composers, using texts from the KJV. This is known as the King James Bible Composition Awards.

The King James Bible Composition Awards Masterclasses - open to the public

The Royal College of Music are running three Masterclasses in conjuction with the Awards - they will take place will take place at the RCM at 2.00pm on the following Wednesdays:

13 October with Tarik O'Regan
20 October with Roxanna Panufnik
10 November with Gabriel Jackson

The composers will discuss their music with RCM student composers, focusing on the place of composers and contemporary music in worship today.
