The Book that Changed the World, Celebrating 400 Years of the Authorised King James Bible

No other book has had such a profound affect on our religious, social, political and artistic lives as the Authorised King James Bible that was published 400 years ago. Guildford's own George Abbot, who founded Abbot’s Hospital and who is buried in Holy Trinity Church was a member of the panel of translators.
To celebrate this event a series of Bible readings will take place in St Mary’s Church, Quarry Street, Guildford from Thursday 20th October to Monday 24th October inclusive.
Each session will comprise readings from the Authorised King James Bible led by members of our town centre churches.
The dates, times and themes are as follows:

18.00 – 19.15 ‘Perfection’
Friday 21st October
18-00 – 19.15 ‘Loyalty and Friendship’
Saturday 22nd October
17.00 – 17.45 Choral Evensong, sung by Guildford Chamber Choir
18.00 – 19.15 ‘Surprise’
Sunday 23rd October – two sessions
15.00 – 16.15 ‘Death and Life’
17.00 – 18.15 ‘Adventure’
Monday 24th October
18.00 – 19.15 ‘Fulfilment’
Entry is free and there is no need to book in advance.
