To celebrate the quartercentenary of the publication of the King James Bible this year, the Chester Literature Festival is running a Readathon of the entire Authorized Version from 'In the beginning..." to 'Amen.' As Andrew Motion, former Poet Laureate has said "The King James Bible is a cornerstone of our culture and our language."

The Readathon will take place in different venues in the city centre but particularly in the Cathedral, and mostly on the two Saturdays (23rd and 29th October) with smaller readings taking place at author events in the festival.
