The Bible: opening a closed book for today
A study day to explore the history of the KJV and parallel issues for the use of the Bible in ministry and mission today in Europe

Lectures by Bishop Geoffrey Rowell, Church of England Bishop in Europe and Church historian: Opening a closed book - the history of the KJV; Prof. Grace Davie, University of Exeter, sociology of religion: Hearing the Bible today - understanding the Western European context; Prof. Thomas Schlag, University of Z├╝rich: Opening a closed book for the next generation. Also Round Table discussion on the place of the Bible in public discourse; transmission of the Word in a visual culture; using the Bible with confidence in the life of the local church. The is also a display of facsimiles of historic Bible and readings from the KJV with period music.
