Society of Biblical Literature International Meeting
"The KJV at 400: Assessing its Genius as Bible Translation and Its Literary Influence"
The major theme for the congress that will host scholars from over 40 countries around the world is a celebration of the King James Bible. The Society of Biblical Literature’s major partner is the Nida Institute for Biblical Scholarship of the American Bible Society for a set of special lectures and discussions that are open to the public. Different lectures over the four sessions will include Malcolm Guite from Girton College, Cambridge on “Andrewes, Donne and the Theology of Translation” and Paul Ellingworth from United Bible Societies, Aberdeen on “The Place of the KJV in British Higher Education”. The scholarly and public sessions will be hosted by King's College London.
