The Bible in Voice and Verse
Details:
Leyland St Andrew is holding a special concert celebrating the impact of the King James Bible in words and music.
Lance Pierson recites key passages from the Bible interspersed with performances of famous pieces of music which those words inspired, sung by Belinda Yates. The music will include excerpts from Haydn's ‘Creation’, Handel's ‘Messiah’ and SS Wesley's ‘Blessed be the God and Father' amongst many others. It lasts 1 hour 30 minutes plus interval.
Together with pianist Heather Chamberlain, Lance and Belinda form a concert trio called “In Voice and Verse” who have been producing concerts of music and words for the last couple of years including a performance at the National Gallery. Lance is an experienced actor who performs an abridged version of Mark’s Gospel and has recited at St Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. Belinda sings regularly with the Monteverdi Choir and has collaborated on solo projects for years with Heather who studied at the Royal Academy of Music.
There is no charge for the evening, but a contribution of £5 is suggested. Refreshments will be served.
