King James at Hampton
by Keith Wait

St Mary's Drama Group celebrates the 400th anniversary of the beauty, the drama and the literature of the King James' Bible, which was conceived at Hampton Court Palace, in the parish of St Mary's, Hampton, and published in 1611. Together with Shakespeare, the Bible is the very basis of the modern English language. For the beautiful simplicity of the words, it is regarded as one of the greatest works of English Literature; for the powerful images of its metaphors, as the source of most of our everyday idioms; for its spiritual message, as the sublime revelation of God's word in English.
